How does RTK realize high-precision positioning?
01. Star Search
The satellite data searched by RTK will contain satellite orbit information (position) and time information. The known satellite signal propagation time to RTK multiplied by the propagation speed (the default speed of light) to get the distance between the satellite and RTK, through the distance and the known coordinates of each satellite (X, Y, Z) to establish a formula to calculate the RTK current coordinates (X, Y, Z), the more satellites searched, the more the known quantity, the higher the RTK positioning accuracy.
02. Differential Source, Base Station
Due to the satellite signal in the propagation process by the ionosphere, troposphere, multi-path effect and other factors, a single RTK positioning accuracy can only reach about 5 meters, that is, we often say that the single-point solution, in order to improve the RTK positioning accuracy, it is necessary to introduce the differential source, the use of relative positioning to eliminate the common unknown error.
That is, 1 RTK as a base station, real-time satellite signals and other information received sent to the mobile station, and the mobile station received the same satellite signals and other information for the difference operation, in order to achieve centimeter positioning accuracy, that is, what we call the fixed solution. If RTK is located in an environment where the number of searching stars is small or the quality of searching stars is poor (e.g., under trees, buildings and other environments), it will affect the RTK fixing effect and positioning accuracy to a certain extent. Adopting the principle of relative positioning to realize centimeter-level positioning accuracy actually assumes that the error received by the base station and the mobile station is the same, and the farther the distance between the two, the worse the accuracy.
