u-blox Introduces Ultra-Compact Multi-GNSS Module with Superior Performance
u-blox (SIX:UBXN), the global leader in wireless and positioning modules and chips, today announced the launch of its new ultra-compact GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) receiver module, the ZOE-M8G, which is designed for small size, lightest weight, and high positional accuracy applications.
Synchronized with GPS, Galileo and GLONASS or BeiDou satellites, the ZOE-M8G delivers excellent position accuracy with industry-leading navigation sensitivity of -167 dBm, making the ultra-compact ZOE-M8G the perfect choice for wearable devices, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and asset tracking applications.
The new u-blox ZOE-M8G simplifies product design because it is a fully integrated GNSS solution with built-in SAW filters and low noise amplifiers (LNAs). In other words, it can be paired with a passive antenna without additional components and without sacrificing performance.
Revolutionary Compact Form Factor
The ZOE-M8G GNSS module measures only 4.5 mm x 4.5 mm x 1.0 mm. Due to its ultra-compact size, a complete GNSS design utilizing the ZOE-M8G module reduces the PCB footprint by approximately 30% when compared to a traditional discrete chip using a CSP chip-based GNSS receiver.
Every square millimeter and gram counts when designing products such as smartwatches, fitness bands, asset trackers, UBI adapters and even drones," said Uffe Pless, Product Marketing Manager, Positioning Product Center, u-blox. u-blox ZOE-M8G makes it easier for product designers to achieve precision positional tracking while meeting their stringent form factor and weight constraints. size and weight constraints."
Samples of the u-blox ZOE-M8G will be available starting in February 2017 and are expected to enter mass production in October 2017.
