Where is the difference between Beidou and GPS?
1, the number of satellites is different
BDS: BeiDou satellite navigation system space segment consists of 5 geostationary orbit satellites and 30 non-geostationary orbit satellites, China plans to around 2012, & ldquo; BeiDou & rdquo; system will cover the Asia-Pacific region, around 2020 to cover the world.
GPS: GPS is composed of 24 satellites (21 working satellites; 3 spare satellites), which is located 20200km above the surface of the earth, with an operational period of 12h. The satellites are uniformly distributed on 6 orbital surfaces (4 per orbital surface), with an orbital inclination of 55°. The distribution of satellites makes it possible to observe more than 4 satellites anywhere in the world, at any time, and to pre-store navigation letters in the satellite.
2, the coverage is different
BDS: BeiDou navigation system is a regional navigation system covering China's mainland, covering the east longitude of about 70°~140°, north latitude 5°~55°. The Beidou satellite system has already achieved full coverage of Southeast Asia.
GPS: An all-weather navigation system with global coverage. Can ensure that any place on earth, any time to observe 6-9 satellites at the same time (actually up to 11).
3, from the positioning accuracy
BeiDou navigation system currently has a three-dimensional positioning accuracy of about 25m, timing accuracy of about 100ns, and can reach 10m in some major areas within China.
GPS three-dimensional positioning accuracy of P code has been improved from 16m to 6m, C/A code has been improved from 25-100m to 12m, and timing accuracy is about 20ns; the accuracy of stand-alone navigation has been realized to be about 10m, and the accuracy can reach centimeter and millimeter if integrated positioning is carried out. However, the accuracy of the civil field is about 10 meters.
Advantages and Disadvantages
BDS: BeiDou has GPS does not have the communication and target positioning, GPS can only tell the user & ldquo; I & rdquo; where, but the BeiDou system not only can tell the user & ldquo; I & rdquo; where, but also can tell the user & ldquo; my friends & rdquo; where. But the shortcomings are still in the development stage, mainly used in the military, civilian promotion has not yet done a comprehensive popularization, and the chip cost is high, in the middle and high latitude areas, due to the BeiDou visible number of satellites is less, the satellite distribution is poor, positioning accuracy is poor or can not be positioned.
GPS: mature technology, accurate positioning, global coverage, unlimited user capacity, the disadvantage is that the scale is too large, the cost is too high, GPS can only be used as a navigation but can not realize the communication function.
